4 Foods That Fight Yeast Infections

Do you have a problem with yeast infections? You might be surprised to learn that there are some foods which can help you to combat these type of problems naturally. This is especially crucial for those of us that suffer from recurring yeast infections because we have unwisely used pharmaceutical cures that don't really give us a cure at all. Here are four different types of foods that you can use to fight yeast in your body and to get it under control.

Yogurt - One of the most important foods that you can eat if you have a problem with yeast infections is yogurt. You need to make sure that you aren't simply eating the type of yogurt that is available at most grocery stores, which may actually have the opposite effect for you. Yeast loves sugar and if you are eating or using yogurt with sugar in it, you are not going to be doing yourself any good. Use natural yogurt or perhaps even make your own and eat it every day. If you have a yeast infection now, you can also apply it directly to the area or perhaps dip a tampon in it and insert it for 20 minutes or so. It will help to promote good bacteria growth in your body that will naturally combat the yeast.

Apple Cider Vinegar - This is one of those foods that you can use on a regular basis in order to improve your health overall. It should not be used topically in the case of a yeast infection but you should be drinking about two tablespoons every day in a large glass of water. Don't try to take it directly, always mix it in water. This will not only help you with your yeast infection, it will help you to feel better overall.

Garlic - All-natural garlic patents should be used whenever you have a problem with yeast infections. You should eat garlic every day but if you have a vaginal yeast infection, inserting a tab of garlic can provide you with some instant relief.

Water - Although it is not really a food, you should make sure that you are drinking eight to 10 glasses of pure water every day. Dehydration is a major cause of yeast infections and you need to reverse the process in order to cure the problem from the inside out.

Yeast infection and natural yogurt?

I'm trying to fight the problem myself or prevent from happening:) i sometimes got a thick white discharge but most the time its clear etc i've been eating alot of fruit and veg and laying off junk food!:)
i though natural yogurt was the same as plain :S so i've been eating a lot of that! a day again after weeks of clear discharge it was really white and thick :S but gone back clear 4 now, and because i've been eating so natural yogurt my discharge smells like it :s ... is this bad or does it mean its working ???

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

I'm not sure what you mean by natural yogurt. Many types of yogurt little to no probiotics, the substance that could help deal with yeast infections. When shopping for it, make sure that it has active bacteria. You may also want to lay off the fruits for a while, sugar and refined flour can make the situation worse, because it provides food for the yeast.

Garlic supplements are sometimes helpful, but if you are taking any medications be sure to ask if there are any drug/herb interactions. Garlic can interact with blood thinners.

I understand your desire to take care of it yourself, but having the doctor diagnose your problem is important. You may not be dealing with a yeast infection, so a proper diagnosis is definitely in your best interests.

You can take natural yogurt and treat the area affected with the yeast infection. I can tell you that it will work--depending on how bad you got it might you have to repeat this procedure. A nurse told me to do that years ago and I was amazed that it worked. Then start eating yogurt every day---not off and on, every day!!! I eat 3-4 yogurt every day since 20 years and I haven't gotten a yeast infection since I treated the last one 20 years ago the way I explained to you.....

Avoid Processed Foods If You Suffer from Candida

Some of us may have regular yeast infections that are easy to cure whenever we eat the right kind of foods or perhaps use something natural, such as yogurt. There may be times, however, when the yeast infection is embedded deep within our body as a result of Candida. For those of us that understand what Candida is, we realize that they can cause a number of different problems and it is one of the more difficult things for us to cure naturally. That is why it is absolutely necessary for you to do everything in your power to get rid of it, as well as to keep it from getting more of a foothold at the same time.
We live in a world that is full of things that are not good for us, and most of us realize that. Believe it or not, one of the worst offenders for causing us to have Candida is processed foods. These things simply do not exist in nature and 100 years ago, absolutely nobody ate any of the processed things that now line the shelves of the grocery stores. If you want to be able to get rid of Candida and perhaps free yourself from the problems that it has been causing, the first thing that you need to do is to drop processed foods from your diet altogether.

Leaky Gut Syndrome??

Hey guys..

I'm 16 and I'm assuming I have leaky gut syndrome.
Is there any way to find out FOR SURE if I have leaky gut? (i hope it's cheap....)

If you guys want to diagnose me.. go ahead. haha.. Doctors have never helped me so...

-I have constipation (i have 1-2 bowel movements a WEEK)
-I'm losing my eyebrows
-I've taken acne medication and duretics(spelling?) for years which is I think part of the problem..
-I have seborrheic dermatitis
-I suffer from dandruff and acne
-I used to eat a whole bunch of processed foods (ice-cream, bunch of fast foods...etc). But I changed my diet a bit 1 month ago.

I don't know what's wrong with me...
At first, I thought I had candida, but I don't even know.

THANK YOU for your time.

Hi Yuri. There is a standard diagnostic test for intestinal hyperpermeability (leaky gut) called "the intestinal permeability test" (pretty simple!).

The test is performed by drinking a solution containing two sugars: lactulose and mannitol. Lactulose is poorly absorbed by a healthy gut and excessively absorbed by a 'leaky gut'. Mannitol is readily absorbed by a healthy gut. The levels of these sugars are then measured in the urine. A higher than normal level of lactulose in the urine indicates a leaky gut and a lower than normal urine level of mannitol indicates malabsorption by the gut.

Any health care professional trained in nutritional therapies should be familiar with this test and can order it for you.

Your total picture of signs and symptoms suggests the possibility of Celiac Disease. I suggest you get tested for it. Celiac Disease (CD) is an autoimmune disease that damages the lining of the small intestine (and causes the "odd" combination of leaky gut and malabsorption). It is caused by an allergic reaction to the proteins in wheat, rye and barley called glutens/gliadins.

Celiac Disease is quite common, but is rarely diagnosed by medical doctors (probably because it is a nutritional disorder - no drugs treat it). Most doctors don't even know that constipation can be caused by CD! The only treatment is total avoidance of glutens/gliadins in your diet (NO MORE JUNK FOOD - but you will feel GREAT!).

You really need to find a health care professional trained in nutrition and environmental medicine. Naturopathic Physicians, Chiropractors, Certified Clinical Nutritionists (CCNs) and that rare medical doctor trained in "functional medicine" or "environmental medicine" would be a good choice for you.

Best wishes and good luck.

You know, it may be Gluten Intolerance, or Sylliac Disease. This is an allergy to wheat. Eating wheat and other gluten products pretty much cause an autoimmune attack on your small intestine.

You try getting tested for gluten sensitivity or trying staying off all wheat (and all gluten) and see if you feel better.

I'm not saying that it is going to be easy for you to do this and as a matter of fact, it may be one of the more difficult things that you have ever done. It is easy for us to grab something that is processed but it is not as easy for us to eat something that is in its pure state. In order for us to be able to get rid of a Candida problem, however, we are going to have to switch over to an almost all raw food diet for a period of time. Even whenever we are eating raw food, however, it is important that we are don't overdo fruit because it contains sugar that can actually feed the Candida in our body.

One other thing that you should make sure that you are doing is keeping yourself hydrated regularly and keeping your body in an alkaline state. Candida can not grow outside of an acidic environment, so make sure you are not giving it an environment in which it can live.

4 Foods to Avoid If You Suffer from Recurring Yeast Infections

Did you realize that food is often to blame for many of the infections that we are experiencing? This is especially the case whenever we are having a yeast infection but it is not necessarily the yeast that we are eating which is causing the problem. Yeast infections are caused by a certain type of Candida that is present in the environment all around us. It is also in our body, even when we are not experiencing an infection and it serves a useful purpose. When our body is in balance, that yeast is kept in check so we do not typically experience any problems.

If you have a problem with yeast infections, especially if they are recurring or even chronic, there are some foods that you should avoid at all costs. These foods don't necessarily cause a yeast infection to occur but they can keep it alive once it exists. Here are 4 different types of foods that should be avoided by those who have problems with yeast infections.

Sugar - One of the main things that should be avoided when you're having a problem with yeast infections is processed sugar. Yeast eats sugar so if you're feeding the yeast infection, you're going to have a difficult time getting rid of it. Even many of the foods that you should eat for yeast infections, such as yogurt, typically have a lot of sugar added. Make sure that you read the labels before you put anything in your mouth.

Processed Foods - Anything that is processed is not going to necessarily be good for your body. If you really want to get rid of a yeast infection that you are experiencing, you need to get back to the basics of eating, including plenty of raw fruits and vegetables.

Pasta - Even though many of us enjoy eating pasta regularly, you should avoid eating it whenever you are experiencing a yeast infection. Most of the pasta that we eat is made from refined flour and water. This refined flour can cause problems in our body, including feeding the yeast infection that we are experiencing.

Mushrooms - Even though not all of us eat mushrooms, it is certainly high up on the list of things that we should not be eating if we have a yeast infection. Make sure you avoid them and you will have better success with getting rid of the infection.

So sick of my body!!!?

Hello! My husband have been TTC since December .My last period was February 4, 2010. I have a 28 day cycle. I have never missed a period and I have never been late for my period. No matter how stressed out or nervous I am about something AF still rears her ugly head every 28 days! Ugh! I hate mother nature. Anyways, last month my husband and I tried. We had sex on all the days we were supposed to, I took prenatal vitamins, I elevated my hips for 30 minutes after sex every time, we ate correctly, etc. No big deal or anything. We cut caffeine out of our diet and started eating healthier (not only to increase our chances but because we feel we need to make some healthy changes to avoid heart disease and stuff). Well I had cramping about a week after I was supposed to ovulate and about a week and a half after I was supposed to ovulate I went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was a clear pinkish bloody mucus in the toilet paper and after that nothing. That was two days before I was supposed to start my period. Thing is I didn't start my period. I am now currently 24 days late. About a week after my period was late I had a blood test done and it came back negative. So I thought for sure I wasn't pregnant and just had too high of hopes. But yesterday I took a test and there was a faint line next to the control line (which I am thinking was an evap line). I have had a lot of abdominal discomfort lately, along with light cramping, and nausea in the mornings (which could be from my working with breakfast foods but who knows). I have also had a weird sometimes thick and sometimes thin white discharge (not a yeast infection and definitely not a disease). However I have no signs of starting AF either. If I am definitely not pregnant what else could possibly be wrong with me? What should I do about this issue since I am TTC? Any advice is welcome unless you are being unkind or criticizing me.I think that if my period still doesn't show by April 4th I am going to go to the doctor and get checked out. Thanks!

Again I am 24 days late for my AF.

Hey! I've been following your questions- but its been a while. I forget- did you use OPKs and/or chart your temps? I'm wondering if you're having an annovulatory cycle? At this point, since still no AF and no BFP, I would return to the doctor since this is abnormal for you. GL!!!

  • I think you are pregnant.
I had a blood pregnancy test done, after I had already taken a home-pregnancy test and it showed up negative.
I knew I was pregnant though.
If a pregnancy test shows positive, even just a little bit you are usually pregnant.

Yeast Infections Food to Eat And Avoid

Whenever most of us think of yeast, we think of food and the fact that yeast is used in order to make bread and even beer. There are certain types of yeast, however, that exist in the environment all around us and they serve a useful purpose for the most part. Unfortunately, they may also invade our bodies in large numbers if we allow our bodies to get out of balance. Typically, there is bacteria present in our body that fights off these yeast infections but if the bacteria goes away for one reason or another, the yeast is permitted to grow.

One of the easier ways for you to be able to deal with a yeast infection naturally is by eating the right kinds of foods. Let's talk a little bit about the type of foods that we should be eating, both to help keep our body in balance and some types that will fight the yeast infection directly.

If you're having a hard time with yeast infections, your diet should be as free of processed foods as possible. This is especially true of processed, white sugar which the yeast will actually thrive on. If you take away things that they yeast enjoys, you're taking away its ability to breed. You should also make sure that most of the food you're eating brings your body into an alkaline environment because a yeast infection cannot grow outside of an acidic environment.

One of the best natural cures for yeast infections is yogurt. You should be eating yogurt every day, even if you're not currently suffering from a yeast infection. The problem is, most of us tend to eat yogurt that is found on the shelves at most grocery stores but this is typically full of too much sugar. You need to eat natural yogurt without any sugar added and this will help to bring your intestinal flora and bacteria levels up in your body so that it can naturally defend against any yeast that happens to be present.

For the most part, if you're eating a healthy diet that consists of a lot of raw fruits and vegetables, you should be able to easily fight off any of these yeast infections that may occur. Once you're able to successfully get rid of them, make sure that you continue eating in this way in order to prevent them from happening in the future.

Treating Yeast Infection In Mouth And Tummy - What Foods Will Get ...

Treating Yeast Infection In Mouth And Tummy - What Foods Will Get Rid Of Yeast Infection In Mouth And Tummy?
by: Elizabeth Peterson K.
So what is the best way for treating yeast infection in mouth and tummy? I have this infection and it?s been a real bore to me. I want to cure it for good. So what foods will get rid of yeast in the mouth and in the tummy?
This is a question we got the other day and I will try to give an answer to it here. We cannot tell if it is yeast overgrowth from the computer, however it is likely, and very common. You are right on that eating well is key to health, and excess sugar, refined flour products, chlorinated water and caffeine can all contribute to yeast overgrowth as can antibiotics and other drugs.
"Probiotics" such as cultured yogurt, acidophilus supplemented (Jarrow brands and Primal Defense being among those of excellent quality, though can be pricy) helps rebalance the healthy bacteria in your gut. Fermented raw veggies are probably the strongest source for rebalancing as well as most cost effective, but do take a little time investment in learning how; - is a wise habit though, to build immunity as well as digestion.
If you are adventurous with an earthy palate, safe and nourishing herbs to eat would be burdock root (you can find these in health food groceries and find recipes online), dandelion leaves, and roasted chickory tea. These are traditional gut builders and are very safe herbs and good medicine.
However, to initially CLEAR OUT the excess yeast, I strongly hint on the suggestion of grapefruit seed extract, or GSE. Although use caution if you are pregnant and ALWAYS take in water if you use the liquid extract rather than pills. Other helpful supplements are capryllic acid and the herb pau d'arco you can take in capsules. Copious amounts of raw garlic or garlic tabs are also helpful and avoiding sugar as much as possible is crucial!
It is probably not celiac disease, which usually has much more dramatic symptoms, although it could be a wheat, soy, or nut sensitivity that can develop even after you have had no problems with this food in the past (often referred to as an "allergy"). You can cut out suspect food and see how your body responds, also try an herbal bitter before meals such as Sweetish Bitters, to stimulate digestion.
You can also have your doctor or other healthcare provider order a test for you from a place like Genova Diagnostics who have excellent tests for food allergies, candida (yeast infection), etc. There is a lot of good research on this available, just be wary of information garnished from web sites trying to sell you their products, its often a little over the top and not legitimate.

my tummy gurgles all the time and has tons of gas bubbles all day
i also have a whitish film on tongue
is it yeast? if so how to get rid of it?i had all this for months now

I have a natural healing book this is the info in it.
candiada albicans yeast grows more rapidly when the body has a lack of iron/magnesium., zinc or vitamin deficiency.
theyeast than obtains these vital mineral and vitamins from foods depriving the body of those nutrients. the result is continuing symptoms of deficiency and a weakened immune system
try to eat abundant fruit and vegetables and whole grains.

Yeast infections usually result form a weakened immune system taking plant extracts of
echinacea/ astragalus/ and siberian ginseng can support you immuine defenses make sure that they are of good quality

To kill yeast once you have an infection try plant based fungicides such as grapefruit seed extract and herbal teas including "mate tea" taking supplements of acidophilus and eating yogurt with live cultures (plain unsweatened 1%) help to restore the good bacteria in your intestine

to avoid reinfection
wash underwear /stockings/ towels in hot water 140 F to kill yeast cells
ware cotton underware(synthetics make yo usweat more the extra moisture provides good growing conditions )
toothbrushes are frequent sources of transmission and reinfectons change your toothbruch every four weeks and more during infections.
use a soap free washing lotion to prevent injury to the skin's protective acid coating/ be sure to dry your skin very thoroughly after washing.

the reasons for all of these procations is once you have it one place you can spread to others

NOTE:
grapefruit seed extract is a highlyeffective antibiotic and fungicide. it kills candida yeast without harming natureal intestinal flora.
you can get this in capsule form at some pharmacies and health foods stores

  • You need to improve your digestion. A good pro biotic is the answer. Did you take some antibiotics in the last couple of years ?
The best probiotic is Dr. Ohhira's Probiotic 24+ can be found on line.
Good natural fungicides: Cinnamon capsules, oregano capsules, Olive leaf extract. grapefruit seed extract. All can be found at health stores.
A food allergy could be Dairy products, Eggs, peanuts (including peanut butter) white flour and sugar. Stay off of these for a week and see if you feel better.

  • You can buy a supplement at natural food stores called acidophilous - this is the natural "good" bacteria that is supposed to be living in our digestive systems. Sometimes we go way off balance (antibiotics is one common reason) so the bad bacteria takes over. Put the good stuff back in charge! Acidophilous should be refrigerated so it stays alive, if the store doesn't have it refrigerated, get it somewhere else.
