Yeast Infection Causes, Symptoms And Home Treatments

Yeast infections affect women of every age. A yeast infection will cause itching and burning and should be treated immediately. Luckily, yeast infections are highly treatable and the symptoms can be quite manageable. Thus, if you have a yeast infection yourself of simply want more knowledge, keep reading.
Remove wet clothing immediately after swimming. Since moist environment foster yeast growth, never remain in damp clothing for an extended time period. After removing your wet clothing, you should dry yourself completely before putting on your dry clothes.
TIP! To avoid yeast infections, reduce the amount of stress in your life. Stress reduces the effectiveness of the immune system, making infections in the body more likely.
If you tend to get a lot of yeast infections, do not wear fancy underwear, no matter how pretty it may be. Cotton will keep your private areas dry, whereas fancy lace and nylon panties will hold your body’s moisture inside. That makes breeding grounds for bacteria and can cause you a yeast infection; stick with cotton.
TIP! Only use gentle, non-irritating products on your vagina, avoiding scents. Things like scented soaps and sprays can cause irritation and increase your chances of getting a yeast infection.
One of the best tried and true ways that many people cure yeast infections with is cider vinegar. First dilute a small amount of apple cider vinegar with some clean water. Next, spread the mixture over the yeast infected areas on your body. Since apple cider vinegar is highly concentrated, mix it with plenty of water for adequate dilution. Garlic is a great product to lessen the itching that you feel with a yeast infection.
Make sure you get enough sleep. Sleep helps to improve the effectiveness of your immune system. But, not enough sleep will reduce the immune system and let a yeast infection grow. Attempt a sleeping schedule that’s regular, and avoid exercise and caffeine too close to bedtime.
Always wear cotton undergarments to keep from contracting a yeast infection. Modern materials like nylon do not allow the body to breathe, which increases the risk for a yeast infection. Go with 100% cotton, and always change your underwear when you finish exercising or have worked up a good sweat. This can help you stay healthy and dry.
TIP! Get some sleep. Your immune system can go a long way in defending against yeast infections.
If you have just started birth control and you are having issues with yeast, talk to your doctor to see if that is the problem. Contraceptives like birth control pills have a lot of estrogen in them which messes with the natural vaginal pH balance at times. You may consider switching up your birth control.
If you get a yeast infection and you have sexual intercourse with someone, both of you need to be treated. Yeast infections are transferable between any two individuals (even men). Condoms can help reduce the risk of spreading a yeast infection.
TIP! Avoid tight clothing and synthetic fabrics. Anything which rests against your skin also traps moisture there.
Apple cider vinegar is known to be an effective yeast infection remedy. Drinking it can bring you a lot of relief, but it can be applied externally too. But, because it has the ability to cause burning, topical use may be risky. Add apple cider vinegar to your warm bathwater for some relief.
TIP! If you have recurring yeast infections, review what you usually eat. Consuming too many sugary foods can make your body a prime breeding ground for infection.
If you don’t want to take medication for your yeast infection, there are many herbs which will cure the yeast infection. Rosemary and goldenseal are two herbs that can help prevent a yeast infection. Use these herbs to make a concoction, and use the liquid as a douche, and you can soak a pad in it to sooth the burning and itching.
An excellent yeast infection remedy is yogurt. If you have quite a bit of itchiness, run some plain yogurt around the itchy areas. If the itching is inside the vaginal area, apply the yogurt to a tampon and put it in. After the itching goes away, wash the yogurt off. Otherwise even it can cause irritation.
As you can see by now, yeast infections are common, albeit annoying, among women worldwide. With any luck, this can teach how this ailment affects so many women. Use the above advice to become savvy about yeast infections.

What Causes Yeast Infections – Pregnancy

Yeast infections can occur for many different reasons.  And it’s next to impossible to stay on top of the problem if we don’t know what causes yeast infections to begin with.  Over the next few days, we’ll be discussing some of the root causes that can lead to these stubborn infections.

>
>

PregnancyDue to the normal increase in estrogen levels, you are more likely to experience a yeast infection during pregnancy than almost any other time in your life.  Increased estrogen levels lead to increased glycogens (sugar) in vaginal secretions that adhere to the walls of your vagina.  This usually lead to a yeast overgrowth.

Yeast infections tend to show up around the second trimester of pregnancy.  If you notice a thin white discharge with an odd odor, you may well have an infection.  Though some discharge during pregnancy is normal, if the discharge increases or changes, you’ll want to check it out with your doctor to be on the safe side, as well as for your own peace of mind.

What causes yeast infections can be a bit more tricky to control during pregnancy, but these infections don’t necessarily have any negative impact on a pregnancy—other than the normal unpleasant symptoms they cause.

Recommendation:
Since treating any infection or illness during pregnancy is potentially complicated, always consult with your doctor before self-treating a yeast infection.

DietSimple changes in your diet may help the problem.  Try eliminating sugar and complex carbohydrates from your diet.  Also, add a low sugar yogurt (with live acidophilus cultures) to your diet.  These changes alone could make a big difference.

Chlorella
Chlorella is a wonderful super food that aids in the cure of yeast infections.  Chlorella is rich in folic acid, improves hemoglobin levels more efficiently than iron supplements and may be useful to nursing mothers who are experiencing fatigue due to the loss of vitamins and nutrients through breastfeeding.  Chlorella may also prevent hemorrhaging at delivery by promoting healthy blood clotting properties.  Normal pregnancy symptoms including heart burn and constipation are usually made worse by iron supplements—chlorella gives the same benefits as iron pills but without the negative side effects.

Caution
Although chlorella has many curative properties and benefits for pregnant and nursing women, it’s a good practice to always consult with your doctor before taking any supplements or medications.  You should also be sure to check the chlorella ingredient label for ginseng, ginko biloba or other herbs.  These added herbs should not be taken by pregnant women.

Stay tuned for “What Causes Yeast Infections – Parasites”…sounds appetizing, huh?

Examining Yeast Infection Causes

Candidiasis is the scientific name for yeast infection. Yeast is everywhere in our bodies particularly in our mouths, abdomen, under arms, nail beds or any part of our body that has skin folds. For women, yeast can usually be found under the breasts and the vagina. But if the yeast in our bodies reach more than the normal levels, that’s when yeast infection strikes. Yeast infection causes our bodies to produce too much yeast and is triggered by a fungus called Candida Albicans. This fungus likes to thrive in moist areas of our bodies. The most common symptom of yeast infection is severe itching in the affected area.

Common Yeast Infections
Yeast infection can happen to anyone. In fact, it affects men, women and even children. The most common types if yeast infection are, vaginal yeast infections, thrush, diaper rashes and nail bed infections.

Vaginal Yeast Infection
The most frequent yeast infection in women is vaginal yeast infection when there is abnormal growth of yeast in the vagina that causes vaginal burning, itching and discharge. This type of infection is usually caused by taking antibiotics and steroids but it can also be prompted by pregnancy, sperm, diabetes and taking birth control pills. Vaginal yeast infection happens more to women after menopause.
The first symptom of vaginal yeast infection is noticing a white cheesy discharge from the vagina that causes the area to itch. Experiencing pain during sexual intercourse and urination is another symptom.

Thrush
Thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth. Thrush can occur to people who take anti-inflammatory medicines, antibiotics or birth control pills. A person is likely to get thrush if they are a smoker or wear dentures that are either too loose or too tight. Mothers can also get thrush from their babies through breastfeeding.
An indication that of thrush infection seeing white creamy cuts that appear slightly raised anywhere in the mouth. These cuts can sting especially if they are scratched off. Other symptoms of thrush include having trouble swallowing and fever especially if the infection has spread to the throat

Diaper Rash
Diaper rashes can also be caused by yeast infection and it happens to babies not older than two years old and to adults who use diapers. Since the candida fungus thrives in moist places, it’s not uncommon that it would infect the area where the diaper meets the skin. Diaper rashes appear as bright red splotches in the skin and it can occur after taking antibiotics.
It’s easy to spot a diaper rash. The irritated area of a diaper rash can spread all over a baby’s bottom, their genitalia or in specific areas. It can also appear in the folds of the skin.

Nail bed Infections
Yeast infection can also occur on the skin under the nails. Aside from the common causes of yeast infection, nail bed infections also happen when the hands are exposed to water frequently or when a manicure had been badly done.
Nail bed infections are painful and the area around the nail will appear red and swollen. The worst kind of nail infection can cause the fingernail to separate from the skin so that the nail bed turns into an ugly shade of yellow or white.

Yeast infection is a treatable disease and it goes away without any complications. These common types of yeast infections get cleared up in one to two weeks. The best defense against yeast infection causes is having a strong immune system that will protect you from the recurrence of the disease.

What causes yeast infection? Do I have it? Here are my symptoms, what do you think it is?

I've probably had this infection for at least a month or two and I wasn't so sure what it was. I am experiencing - White discharge that tends to stick to the walls of my labia (sp?) Itchy here and there, and that is pretty much it. I have one sex partner which is my husband and we both have been faithful to one another. I have douched before and I have used condoms. Could these items be causing this? Should I purchase some Vagisil when I can? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a yeast infection.

For future, reference, douching is bad, and may have caused the problem.

If it's your first infection, go to the doctor to rule out other factors. Otherwise, someOTC yeast medications will probably work.

  • One more thing: If your partner is infected, you can end up playing ping-pong with it.

He needs to treat himself with Miconazole. There's a generic out there. White fluffy cream. I hesitate to say it, but it is the same active ingredient as in athlete's foot medicine. Don't get creative with medications.

The white discharge is called smegma.

Beyond that, he needs to _always_ wash his penis with plain water. Peel back the foreskin and rinse off the glans thoroughly. The body has natural antibodies which fight the yeast; they are defeated by soap.

It is more frequent in uncircumcised men.

  • Sounds like you have thrush, which can be a result of douching , thrush is just an over production of yeast, which is naturally found in a woman's womb in small quantities but douching ,, being overly warm making you sweat, or with some women taking antibiotics can cause an over production of yeast (candida). It wont go away on its own, probably get worse if you don't treat it.
the symptoms you have sound like you have thrush.
It isn't classed as an STD but it can irritate the male and cause itchiness and in some cases discharge.
go to the chemist there are a number of remedies you will find the duo tablet and cream the best (canistan) its nothing to be embarrassed about ,, just ask the pharmacist for the best remedy if unsure.

  • Yes that is a yeast infection, it probably smells horrible too. This is caused by the same fungus that makes athletes foot and ringworm. The trick is to keep very clean, as in wash out with water regularly, it does not harm you. Avoid manmade fiber panties, use cotton only. dont touch your feet (or anyone elses) and then directly touch your vagina or perineal area. Eliminate yeast encouraging foods from your diet such as breads, and junk food. if you have to use a medical treatment to get rid of it, then just follow what I said above. There is nothing more disgusting that I know of then a yeast infection, for your own and your mans benifit, wash her out, every day.

  • What causes it?
Everyone has yeast organisms in the rectum and vagina. You also have certain amounts of “good” bacteria. When you take an antibiotic, the antibiotic fights the bad bacteria that is causing an infection like strep throat. Sometimes the antibiotic also kills too much of the good bacteria and the fungus that causes a yeast infection is allowed to grow. Hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle can also cause yeast infections, as well as frequent sexual intercourse. You can also get a yeast infection because of poor personal hygiene, or if you wear tight-fitting pants or synthetic underwear that create too much heat and moisture in the genital area.

    Symptoms of Vaginal Yeast Infection

    vaginal itching
    vaginal burning
    vaginal irritation
    painful urination
    painful sexual intercourse
odorless vaginal discharge (may be thick whitish-gray and cottage-cheese-like or may be watery in consistency)
