Thrush and a yeast infection are exactly the same, an overgrowth of the yeast, Candida. It can easily be cleared up with an oral Fluconazole capsule and/or Clotrimazole 2% cream. Its best to use the two together but you can use one or the other. If your too embarrassed to buy it or find that it is too expensive then natural yoghurt has been proven to help with yeast infections. It can be applied externally to cool and sooth or can be eaten. The live bacteria, lactobacillus acidophilus, helps the body maintain, or regain, its natural pH level and keeps yeast under control.

  • Thrush *is* yeast infection... same thing, different name.

Yogurt. (inserted, not eaten - unless your infection is in your gut)

    Seriously.

My ex wife has never used anything else in more than 35 years, and it works every time in 4 or 5 days... and it costs only a few pennies.

  • NOT Savlon! I get it a lot. You can get Canesten over the counter at Boots, either cream or tablet form, or you can use Natural Yoghurt. I dont usually go to the doctors, if you are sure it is Thrush, Canestan usually clears it in the 4-5 days (the tablet costs £13 for one, but clears it straight away!)

  • Oh my good god do NOT put savlon anywhere near it!!
It will sting and burn like hell - ouch!

Like the other folks said, get canesten from the chemist. I think its like £10.00 max and it works just as well as anything the doctor will give you in the short term. Obviously if it is a recurring problem then being under the doctors care is the best bet.

It may be your diet that is causing it. Too much bread - ie yeast - can cause the problem.

  • Savlon will not help in the slightest!
Go to the chemist and buy Canesten pessaries and/or cream.
As an additional help - eat live yoghurt and avoid a lot of yeasty food (beer and fresh bread especially) as they can aggravate the condition.

  • Have you tried Monistat? It's over the counter and you can use it over 1, 3, or 7-days depending on your budget. I would see the doctor after use.
