Bacterial Vaginosis Remedies Revealed

In some people, bacterial vaginosis often goes away without any type of treatment, but for those who are concerned about their health, having some bacterial vaginosis remedies shouldn’t be much of a hassle.

Some women may be more concerned about their personal hygiene when they experience bacterial vaginosis, but a majority of them does not show any type of symptoms such as odor and vaginal discharge. This condition becomes a little complicated when it hits pregnant women. When left untreated, bacterial vaginosis could result in certain complications like premature birth, premature labor, the amniotic fluid becoming infected, and infection of uterus after delivery.

Bacterial vaginosis is not necessarily transmitted through sex, and while the condition shares some similarities to yeast infections, they shouldn’t be mistaken with one another, as yeast infections are not caused by bacteria.

Most women may have one or a few bacterial vaginosis that they know of. This shouldn’t be surprising, since these remedies could often be found readily available in your home. One of the common remedies for bacterial vaginosis includes plain yogurt that contains live lactobacillus. This is inserted directly to thevagina using a plastic applicator. This treatment is believed to help in rebalancing good and bad bacteria that caused bacterial vaginosis.

Another bacterial vaginosis remedy is acidophilus capsules or suppositories, which are put directly to the vagina or diluted first with water. This is also said to work in the same way as live lactobacillus.

Tee tree oil in the form of douches or suppositories could also help treat bacterial vaginosis. This bacterial vaginosis remedy is diluted and inserted to the vagina. Tee tree oil is known to have antifungal properties that could fight bad bacteria and eventually get rid of the condition.

Hydrogen peroxide is also considered to help in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis. This should first be diluted in water, with 1 part hydrogen peroxide and 8 parts water. This is said to rebalance the normal ph of the vagina and restore the normal bacterial flora.

Antibiotics may also serve as bacterial vaginosis remedies. Metronidazole may either be taken orally or directly applied to the affected area in its gel form. This is known to be one of the most effective treatments for bacterial vaginosis, although it may bring mild but unpleasant adverse effects. The gel form does not produce side effects like the orally taken pills, but it may lead to yeast vaginitis in some cases.

Although bacterial vaginosis is not necessarily acquired through sex, limiting your partners could lessen the occurrence of this condition. Practicing safe sex maybe one of the best way to prevent having bacterial vaginosis.
